Section 22 Notice

A Section 22 Notice, under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985, grants leaseholders the right to inspect financial documents related to their service charges. Leaseholders must request this within six months of receiving a service charge summary.

Upon request, landlords must provide access to relevant accounts, receipts, and documents for two months, beginning one month after the request. Inspections are free, but landlords may charge for copies.

Failure to comply can result in criminal penalties, emphasising the importance of landlords responding promptly to these requests.
