Under the Access to Neighbouring Land Act 1992, neighbours in England and Wales have a legal right to obtain a court order to access adjoining or adjacent properties to carry out ‘basic preservation works’. If you need such access, or you deny a neighbour who needs access to your property access to repair their home, you risk an access order being granted against you by the Courts.
