Protocol

In the context of litigation reference to a ‘Protocol’ is usually a reference to the Civil Procedure Rules. There are a number of pre action ‘protocols’, or guidelines, that must be followed before any claim is issued, or dispute is advanced. There can be cost sanctions where a party unreasonably disregards a protocol where one applies.
