Employer

The superior party to an employment relationship, in which an employee is recruited to perform particular tasks or roles within a business. An employer is responsible for the health and efficiency of the employees under their care. This is a completion of a mutually beneficial relationship, in which the employee performs acts of service and the employer provides payment for time spent.
The health and safety of all employees under the jurisdiction of an employer must be prioritised, and it is the employer’s responsibility to ensure that all working conditions are safe. Regulations to encourage employee safety are consistently updated, and employers must follow these so as to not risk repercussions from future grievances.
The increasingly complex nature of large, complex corporate organisations makes the continued effort to ensure all employers are acting fairly a particularly difficult one. Ultimately, the onus is placed upon the employer to ensure their staff are safe to work in a healthy environment where their needs and rights are met and fulfilled.
